ROCHE BIOSCIENCE, CLONTECH ANNOUNCE RESEARCH ALLIANCE
PALO ALTO, Calif., March 26, 1996 -- Roche Bioscience and CLONTECH Laboratories, Inc., today jointly announced the formation of an alliance in which the companies will collaborate on the identification of novel molecular targets for Roche Bioscience research in the areas of analgesia and lower urinary tract disorders. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"CLONTECH has developed unique molecular biology technologies that are synergistic with the strengths Roche Bioscience has in receptor and ion channel-based pharmacology," said Roger Whiting, Ph.D., senior vice president of the Roche Bioscience Neurobiology Business Unit. "The collaboration with CLONTECH marks the first Roche Bioscience research alliance utilizing a newly-established fund managed by our company in Palo Alto."
Roche Bioscience is a research-based, product-focused organization dedicated to the discovery of innovative prescription drugs. Roche Bioscience was formed as a division of Syntex (U.S.A.) Inc. in 1995 following the acquisition of Syntex by the Roche Group in 1994.
CLONTECH is a privately-held company specializing in the research, development and manufacture of research products for the molecular and cell biology research market. CLONTECH was founded in 1984.
Both companies are located in Palo Alto, Calif.
